Getting to know me a bit more

Born in Durban, South Africa, my family was very sporty and most of them participated in soccer, athletics and rugby at recreational, state, national and international levels. Deciding to go against the norm, I was introduced to the sport of gymnastics by my best friend and never looked back!

After a career that spanned more than 2 and a half decades which included competing for Australia at 2 commonwealth games, many major international meets and world cups as well as being a reserve team member for multiple world championships and a national squad member from 2008-2018, it was only natural that I took an interest and passion towards coaching.

From 2006-2012 I mainly coached recreational gymnastics at State Gymnastics Centre in Prahran, Victoria which progressed to coaching ALP MAG & WAG Levels 4-Jnr/Snr international. While still at this job and training, In 2013 I started working at Skylark Sports in Mount Waverley, Victoria where I coached Acrobatics, WAG, Ninja, KinderGYM, Tumbling, Adult classes & NinjaSquad. I was also the program manager for Tumbling (2014-2020) and WAG (2016-2020).

In 2020 I decided to leave to go work at Kids in Motion where I coached movement classes which was a mix of all sports but introducing strong fundamentals and advancing their level of skills. They also had a special needs program which definitely grew my love and passion for wanting to work even more in this wonderful and amazing community. During my time here I completed my Cert III and IV in assistance therapy, I was also part of their leadership team and introduced/updated their onboarding systems and areas they had in the space, particularly the trampolines, rock walls and upstairs space.

In 2022 I started Kenako, initially having 2 sessions on Monday & 2 sessions on Wednesday, interest started to grow and eventually I finished at Kids in Motion in 2023 to focus solely on Kenako. Today there are over 20 families and adults that I see on a fortnightly basis, all who have become a big part of my life and my family as well. They have all truly made this amazing community that Kenako is and I couldn’t be more thankful.

“Everybody is special and unique, it’s not about being the same, it’s about finding the best way that works for you so that you can be the best version of you.”
